Miles & More —
the obvious starting point

SWISS flies out of Zürich. Lufthansa Group covers most of Europe and beyond. Multiple Swiss card issuers are competing for your business with welcome bonuses. For most people in Switzerland, Miles & More is where you start — and for good reason.

Welcome bonuses — credit cards

Two issuers compete for your Miles & More business in Switzerland: Swisscard (the official SWISS-branded Classic/Gold/Platinum Duo cards) and Cornèrcard (Classic/Gold/Platinum combo cards, each paired with a Diners Club card earning a flat rate). Welcome bonuses currently range from 5,000 miles on Cornèrcard's entry tier up to 40,000 on the SWISS Platinum Duo — elevated through 24 Sep 2026 with ZRH Comfort Vouchers included, reverting to a 2,000/5,000/10,000 standard afterward.

Everyday earning — CHF spending

Best flat rate

Cornèrcard Diners Club

A guaranteed 1:1 earning rate for CHF day-to-day spending in Switzerland, no conditions attached. Used alongside a Visa for merchants that don't accept Diners, it forms a strong earning duo.

per CHF 1 spent — at all times
Conditional earning rate

Swisscard SWISS M&M Amex

Up to 2.4 miles per CHF 2 on the Amex component of the SWISS M&M Duo cards, depending on card tier. Not a flat rate like Cornèrcard, but combined with the Duo card's SWISS-specific perks it's often the more attractive overall package for SWISS frequent flyers.

Annual spend bonuses

Cornèrcard spend milestones

Additional miles credited automatically when you hit annual spend thresholds. Calculated separately per card, so combined Visa + Diners spending both count.

Key M&M strategy notes
  • Dynamic pricing since June 2025: LH Group (SWISS, Lufthansa, Austrian) now uses dynamic award pricing. Star Alliance partners still use the fixed chart — often offering better value. Full guide to navigating dynamic pricing →
  • Mileage expiry: M&M award miles expire after 36 months without activity. A Cornèrcard or Swisscard with one eligible purchase per month protects your balance indefinitely.
  • First Class availability: Lufthansa First Class award space typically opens within 14 days of departure. Having miles ready in your account is essential — you can't accumulate in a rush.
  • Amex transfer: Swiss Amex Membership Rewards transfer to Miles & More at 2:1 (2 Amex points = 1 M&M mile). Factor this ratio into your strategy when holding Amex points.
  • Geneva-based collectors: SWISS long-haul departs exclusively from Zürich — from Geneva you'll typically connect via ZRH. For direct Business Class options out of GVA, it's often worth looking at Flying Blue via Air France, since Geneva has a strong Air France network.
