What's new —
investing earns miles now
Cornèrtrader, the trading arm of Swiss-based Cornèr Bank, has launched a dedicated Miles & More account that credits Miles & More miles on top of ordinary stock and ETF investing — something no other Swiss broker currently offers. Cornèrtrader bills it as the first Swiss bank to reward investments with airline miles, and the structure is genuinely twofold: miles on every transaction, and a separate, automatic bonus on whatever you're still holding at the end of each quarter, whether you traded that quarter or not.
This sits alongside the credit-card side of the Miles & More ecosystem we usually cover here — Cornèrcard's Gold and Platinum cards — but it's a different product entirely: an investment account, not a credit card, and it earns miles from portfolio activity rather than everyday spending.
How the miles
actually add up
Two separate streams feed the same Miles & More account, run entirely automatically:
#1 — Per transaction
1 mile per CHF 10 of transaction value in stocks and ETFs, on both buys and sells. The transaction amount is the share price multiplied by quantity, excluding fees, converted to CHF at the end-of-day rate if you trade in another currency. CFDs on single stocks work differently: 25 miles per CHF 1 paid in transaction fees, rather than per CHF of exposure.
#2 — Per quarter, on your whole portfolio
1 mile per CHF 100 of invested assets, credited automatically every quarter based on the average net value of your stock and ETF holdings over that quarter — even in a quarter where you made no trades at all. This is the part that makes the programme different from a typical card-spend earn rate: it rewards simply holding the portfolio, not just moving it.
- CHF 400,000 in stock/ETF transactions over a year → 40,000 miles from the per-transaction stream
- CHF 250,000 average invested assets → 2,500 miles per quarter, or 10,000 miles across the year, from the portfolio stream
- Combined: 50,000 miles in a year, without changing how you already invest
A few mechanical details worth knowing before you count on a specific number: the minimum crediting amount is one mile, fractional miles aren't permitted and amounts are rounded down. Transaction miles post monthly and the portfolio bonus posts quarterly, generally within the first two weeks of the following month — trades right at month-end can occasionally spill into the next cycle.
The quarterly portfolio bonus is the interesting part. It's the first Swiss investment product we've seen that pays airline miles for simply holding a position, not just for trading it.
The Cornèrcard client bonus —
10,000 miles
Cornèrtrader's own FAQ is explicit on this point: "At the moment we can offer Welcome Miles only to active Cornèrcard Miles & More customers." In other words, there's no public welcome bonus for opening a Cornèrtrader Miles & More account cold — the welcome offer is reserved for people who already hold a Cornèrcard Miles & More card.
For that group, we understand the current offer runs as a 10,000-mile bonus for investing through a new Cornèrtrader Miles & More account before a set deadline. It's delivered directly in the iCornèr app rather than advertised on the public marketing page — consistent with how Cornèrtrader's FAQ frames it, pointing customers to their Relationship Manager for "any details" rather than publishing fixed terms. That's the usual shape of a targeted, account-specific promotion rather than a blanket offer.
- This bonus is targeted to existing Cornèrcard Miles & More customers — it isn't shown on the public Cornèrtrader site and may not appear for every account
- Check the iCornèr app directly for your own offer and its exact cutoff date before opening or funding an account around it
- If nothing shows in your app, your Relationship Manager can confirm whether an offer currently applies to you
Pricing —
what you get access to
Stocks and ETFs on major markets trade at 0.40% (minimum CHF/USD/EUR/GBP 20 per trade), with access to more than 40,000 financial instruments across over 40 stock exchanges. That's bundled with free financial research, a personal relationship manager, and a free debit card giving round-the-clock access to available funds for payments or withdrawals.
Cornèrtrader operates as a division of Cornèr Bank, and deposits up to CHF 100,000 are covered under the Esisuisse deposit guarantee scheme — the same protection that applies across Swiss retail banking. Beyond stocks and ETFs, the platform also covers FX spot, CFDs, stock options, futures and bonds, all accessible through the iCornèr app or e-banking at corneronline.ch.
Who can
open this account
Cornèrtrader Miles & More is restricted to Swiss residents — it isn't available to anyone living outside Switzerland, and if you move abroad after opening one, you can keep the underlying Cornèrtrader account but the Miles & More programme itself has to be terminated, after which standard pricing applies and your investments stop earning miles.
It's also a genuinely separate account from a standard Cornèrtrader account, with its own pricing. Existing Cornèrtrader clients who want to start earning miles need to sign a new contract to convert — the Miles & More account doesn't layer on top of an existing one automatically.

The Cornèrcard side of Miles & More
If the Cornèrcard welcome-bonus angle above is new to you, our existing reviews cover what the Gold and Platinum Miles & More cards earn on everyday spending — the piece this investment account's bonus is layered on top of.
Miles & More is just one of two programmes Swiss residents can realistically build around — if you're weighing whether this is the right account to add on top of what you already hold, or whether a shortfall is better closed another way, that's exactly the kind of comparison a consultation is built for.
Let's see if it actually fits your portfolio.
In 30 minutes we'll work out whether the miles this account would generate are worth the account itself — and whether a Cornèrcard bonus is currently showing in your app.
Book a session — CHF 79 →Can I earn Miles & More miles with my existing Cornèrtrader account? +
No. Miles are only earned through a dedicated Cornèrtrader Miles & More account, which runs on different pricing to a standard account. Existing clients who want in need to sign a new contract first.
Is Cornèrtrader Miles & More open to non-Swiss residents? +
No, it's available exclusively to Swiss residents. If you later move abroad you can keep the underlying Cornèrtrader account, but the Miles & More programme itself has to be terminated and standard pricing applies from then on.
How often are the miles actually credited? +
Transaction miles are credited monthly, and the quarterly portfolio bonus lands once per quarter. Both generally post within the first two weeks of the following month, though trades near month-end can occasionally spill into the next cycle.
Do Cornèrtrader miles expire? +
That's governed by standard Miles & More validity rules, not by Cornèrtrader — check the current terms in your Miles & More app or on milesandmore.com. Cornèrcard Miles & More cardholders can keep miles from expiring by using their credit card at least once a month.
Is there a welcome bonus for opening a Cornèrtrader Miles & More account? +
Cornèrtrader's own FAQ says Welcome Miles are currently offered only to active Cornèrcard Miles & More customers, not to the general public. That targeted offer is reported to run as a 10,000-mile bonus for investing before a set deadline, delivered directly in the iCornèr app rather than advertised on the public site — confirm the live terms and date in your own app before relying on it.
