August 2026 at a glance — key facts

The economy deals —
two tiers, more cities than expected

For standard Flying Blue members, August's headline economy price is 18,750 miles one-way, a 25% reduction from the standard 25,000-mile price, on three nearer-zone North American cities. A second, farther-zone tier at 22,500 miles one-way covers three Asian cities for every member, plus a wider Caribbean and Indian Ocean list for Flying Blue Extra subscribers. Both tiers are bookable for travel all the way through 31 January 2027.

18,750 miles one-way

Route Standard Promo price Access

22,500 miles one-way

Route Standard Promo price Access

Europe → Beijing (PEK) 30,000 22,500 All members
Europe → Hong Kong (HKG) 30,000 22,500 All members
Europe → Pointe-à-Pitre (PTP) 30,000 22,500 Flying Blue Extra only
Europe → Fort-de-France (FDF) 30,000 22,500 Flying Blue Extra only
Europe → Curaçao (CUR) 30,000 22,500 Flying Blue Extra only
Europe → Mauritius (MRU) 30,000 22,500 Flying Blue Extra only

Every route runs on Air France and/or KLM metal, to or from Europe, with connections through Paris or Amsterdam included on the same award ticket. For a Swiss resident, the practical routing is the same as always: ZRH or GVA → CDG or AMS (a cheap positioning flight, or a free connection on the award itself) → your destination.

The bigger story this month

Premium Economy —
unusually generous, and wider-reaching

This is the part of August's Promo Awards that's easy to miss if you only skim for economy deals. Seven cities sit at 30,000 miles one-way — a 25% cut from the standard 40,000-mile floor — and a second, farther-zone tier at 37,500 miles one-way opens up long-haul Premium Economy as far as South America, India, and China.

30,000 miles one-way

Route Standard Promo price Access
Europe → New York (JFK) 40,000 30,000 All members
Europe → Washington (IAD) 40,000 30,000 All members
Europe → Houston (IAH) 40,000 30,000 All members
Europe → San Francisco (SFO) 40,000 30,000 All members
Europe → San Diego (SAN) 40,000 30,000 All members
Europe → Las Vegas (LAS) 40,000 30,000 All members
Europe → Mexico City (MEX) 40,000 30,000 All members

37,500 miles one-way

Route Standard Promo price Access
Europe → Fortaleza (FOR) 50,000 37,500 All members
Europe → Mumbai (BOM) 50,000 37,500 All members
Europe → Shanghai (PVG) 50,000 37,500 All members
Europe → Abidjan (ABJ) 50,000 37,500 Flying Blue Extra only
Europe → Johannesburg (JNB) 50,000 37,500 Flying Blue Extra only

A wider, flat-bed-adjacent seat with extra legroom and better food for 30,000-37,500 miles one-way is a genuinely strong redemption — cash equivalents for Premium Economy on these routes typically run CHF 1,400-2,800 depending on distance. If you've been sitting on Flying Blue miles waiting for a reason to use them on something better than a middle economy seat, this is the month.

The premium cabin picture

Business Class —
three routes, not the ones you'd expect

There is no North America Business Class Promo Award this month — if you were hoping for a discounted lie-flat seat to New York or Los Angeles, August doesn't have one. But Business Class discounts do exist this month, on three long-haul routes well off the usual transatlantic radar: Bogotá, Libreville, and Cayenne, all at 63,750 miles one-way.

Route Standard Promo price Access
Europe → Bogotá (BOG) 85,000 63,750 All members
Europe → Libreville (LBV) 85,000 63,750 All members
Europe → Cayenne (CAY) 85,000 63,750 All members

All three routes are open to every Flying Blue member (no Extra subscription required), at 63,750 miles one-way — the standard 25% cut from the 85,000-mile Business Class saver rate for this longer-haul zone. None of these are typical leisure destinations for a Swiss resident, and 63,750 miles is a serious redemption, not a bargain — but if Bogotá, Libreville, or French Guiana are already on your list, or you're chasing a lie-flat long-haul sector purely for the experience, this is real value that most North America-focused deal roundups miss entirely.

The Swiss angle

What this means
for Swiss residents

Switzerland sits in Flying Blue's Europe 1 zone — the same bracket as France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Belgium. This means all European-origin Promo Award discounts apply to flights departing from ZRH and GVA. You are not at any disadvantage compared to a French or Dutch member for these deals.

The practical play for August: a round-trip economy award to one of the three North American cities is 37,500 miles return (18,750 × 2); to Seoul, Beijing, or Hong Kong it's 45,000 (22,500 × 2). A round-trip Premium Economy seat to any of the seven nearer-zone cities is 60,000 miles return (30,000 × 2) — the same miles as a one-way Business Class ticket at the standard transatlantic rate — while Fortaleza, Mumbai, or Shanghai run 75,000 return (37,500 × 2).

August isn't the month for a discounted lie-flat seat to North America. But Premium Economy from 30,000 miles one-way, across twelve cities spanning four continents, with a travel window running into 2027, might be the best value in this entire Promo Awards cycle — and if Bogotá, Libreville, or Cayenne are on your list, Business Class is quietly on the table too.

The verdict

August 2026 —
the honest assessment

Standard members
Premium Economy is the story
Economy from 18,750 miles (three North American cities) or 22,500 miles (Seoul, Beijing, Hong Kong). Premium Economy from 30,000 miles (seven cities) or 37,500 miles (Fortaleza, Mumbai, Shanghai). No North America Business Class this month, but Bogotá, Libreville, and Cayenne are open at 63,750 miles. The long travel window (through Jan 2027) is the real upside — book now, fly whenever suits.
Flying Blue Extra subscribers
Real added reach, not just a few cities
Extra unlocks Los Angeles, Orlando, and Miami at 18,750 miles; Pointe-à-Pitre, Fort-de-France, Curaçao, and Mauritius at 22,500 miles; and Abidjan and Johannesburg in Premium Economy at 37,500 miles. That's a genuinely wider map than the general-public list this month.

Check back on 1 September for the next Promo Awards. If none of this month's Economy, Premium Economy, or Business Class routes fit your plans, the standard saver chart is always available without a Promo Award.
